The Tunnel, "I'm still alive…"

The Tunnel Ha Jung woo Jung soo Bae Doona Se hyun Oh Dal su Dae kyung disaster film Sinking of MV Sewol lee dong jin cameo pug dog scene stealer claustrophobia enjoy korea with hui

I'd never expected me to like a disaster film before I watched The Tunnel starring Ha Jung-woo (Jung-soo) and Bae Doona (Se-Hyun).

Plot
It's a survival story of a man trapped in a collapsed tunnel with just two bottles of water, a birthday cake, and his cell phone...

The things that impressed me about the neat movie are...

No over-acting actors
The top Korean actor Ha never let me down.
Actress Bae especially proves that she is not only a star but a great actress, too.
Oh Dal-Su (Dae-Kyung) shows us a new side of him.

Never lost sense of humor
Actor Ha's performance, which is comical and serious at the same time, makes audiences chuckle in the first half of the film.

Based on social criticism
Tunnel reminds us of the tragic Sewol ferry sinking.
I think it's a good way for us to take an interest in current affairs and naturally develop critical thinking of watching a film with a favorite actor.

Unexpected cameo role and scene-stealer
My favorite film critic Lee Dong-jin has a cameo role with his good voice and red glasses, his trademark.
And a cute pug appears as a friend of the man at risk. The dog is more of the main star than of a scene-stealer :)
(You will see what I mean.)

**Warning!!
I don't recommend this film to people who are suffering from claustrophobia or who are allergic to dust.
